Beyond his corporate prowess, Dr. Buxani, now 82, is a father figure to many budding entrepreneurs and a luminary in the UAE business realm. His residence in Dubai spans over 64 years, marking a profound connection with the city’s growth and transformation.

A multi-faceted individual, Dr. Buxani wears many hats – from community leader to spokesperson for non-resident Indians, writer, theatre actor, cultural ambassador, and social organizer. Leading a robust team at the ITL-Cosmos Group, he also serves as Chairman for various international ventures, including Veeram International Ltd. BVI, ITL Group Ltd. BVI, and Cosmos General Trading LLC, Dubai.

Dr. Buxani’s influence extends beyond business, as evidenced by his role as Chairman of Al Razouki International Exchange Co., Dubai, and his tenure on the Board of IndusInd International Holdings Ltd., Mauritius. He played a pivotal role in the formation of IndusInd Bank Ltd. in India, where he served as Director for eight years.

A staunch advocate for the Indian diaspora, Dr. Buxani founded the Overseas Indians Economic Forum (UAE) in 1987, bridging gaps between the Indian government and NRIs. His efforts led to the abolition of estate duty in India, showcasing his commitment to shaping policy changes. During challenging times, such as the Iraq invasion, Dr. Buxani played a vital role in providing temporary shelter for NRIs fleeing from Kuwait en route to India. His leadership in fundraising campaigns, including the highest contribution from the region for the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund for Gujarat earthquake victims, exemplifies his commitment to social causes.

Beyond business and philanthropy, Dr. Buxani has left an indelible mark on education. He served as the Chairman of The Indian High School, Dubai, and the India Club in Dubai, showcasing his dedication to nurturing the next generation.

His influence reaches far beyond the borders of the UAE, with Dr. Buxani contributing to significant economic policy recommendations in India, particularly through the Raunaq Singh Committee. Honours and accolades have flowed consistently, from being conferred with a Doctorate by Washington International University to receiving the D.Litt Degree from D.Y. Patil University of Mumbai. Awards such as Man of the Year, Udyog Ratan, and Bharat Gaurav, among others, underscore the depth of his impact on the business and social landscape.

In 2003, Dr. Buxani’s story reached a wider audience with the unveiling of his autobiography, "Taking the High Road." This literary endeavour provided insights into his journey, values, and the principles that have guided him through decades of dynamic leadership. The autobiography, translated into Arabic, Sindhi, Gujarati, Hindi, Urdu, Marathi, and Malayalam, serves as an enduring testament to Dr. Buxani's ability to transcend cultural boundaries.

His role as a Board Member of Al Noor Training Centre for Persons with Disabilities in Dubai underscores his dedication to inclusive education.

As a community leader, Dr. Buxani has held key roles in organizations such as the Rotary Club of Jumeirah (Dubai) and the Indian Business and Professional Council. His contributions to various trusts and foundations, including the Sindhu Vidya Mandal Trust in Baroda and the IndusInd Foundation in New Delhi, showcase his commitment to social development.

In the realm of education, Dr. Buxani serves as a Director of Chinmaya International Residential School in Coimbatore, contributing to the academic growth of future generations. His role as a Member of the Governing Council of Jhulelal Tirathdam Trust reflects his dedication to preserving cultural heritage.

The accolades bestowed upon Dr. Buxani are numerous, each reflecting a chapter in his extraordinary life. Notably, he was recognized as one of "The World’s Greatest Leaders 2015 – Asia and GCC" by United Research Services (URS) International and AsiaOne Magazine. His commitment to sustainability earned him a place among the "100 Global Sustainable Leaders (CEO) Awards" by the World Sustainability Congress in 2016.

This recognition was followed by similar honors from Republic TV in 2018 and the "Leadership Icon Award" by the Indian Business & Professional Council, Dubai, in the same year.

His enduring impact on the business world was reaffirmed by Forbes Middle East, which consistently ranked him among the "100 Top Indian Leaders in the Middle East." Dr. Buxani's journey continued to inspire, earning him the "Icons of Retail" award by RetailME in 2023.

Recently, in 2023, he received the prestigious "Bhartiya Mahantam Vikas Purasakar" by Asia One and United Research Service, recognizing his significant contributions. His humble acknowledgment for outstanding services rendered to the Sindhi Community, presented by Shri Mohan Bhagwatji, further illustrates the respect and recognition accorded to Dr. Buxani.
