Chartered Accountant Dr. Sahitya K. Chaturvedi made the UAE his home two decades ago, earning a name for himself as a discerning finance professional and astute business leader. He has 22 years of international experience across myriad business categories – Luxury, FMCG (fast-moving consumer goods), Real Estate, Education, Medicine, and Investments – in medium to large enterprises in the Middle East.
Since 2007, Chaturvedi has been working with Ajmal Perfumes in Dubai shouldering the key responsibilities of Finance in retail operations across its 240 global outlets. Apart from the UAE, Ajmal Perfumes, which originated seven decades ago in the Indian state of Assam, is a globally recognised brand in perfumery and has a well-entrenched presence in more than 50 countries.
As Head of Accounts, Chaturvedi has been instrumental in conceptualizing and implementing business processes in a complex fiscal environment, establishing successful growth in the enterprise value, conducting regular mentoring sessions for staff, and organizing necessary interactions with quasi-government authorities.
Dedicated community leader
Born in a Brahmin family in the temple town of Mathura in Uttar Pradesh as the son of Dr. Kushnath Chaturvedi, a Professor of English, Sanskrit, and Hindi, and Manorama, a postgraduate in Hindi, Dr. Chaturvedi had a zeal for knowledge and educational excellence right from his formative years. After passing the CA examination of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and also the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, Dr. Chaturvedi completed a course on Islamic Finance and Commerce from the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), UK. He is also an Associate of CPA (Chartered Public Accountant), in Australia, and has a PhD in Finance from Mayford University.
Dr. Chaturvedi‘s professional expertise and diplomacy have elevated him to the position of Convener, Retail, SME, and Large Enterprises (RSLE) and also as a member of the Executive Committee of Indian Business & Professional Council (IBPC), Dubai under the aegis of Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industries.
Chaturvedi also actively participates in socially responsible endeavors in the domains of education, orphanages, hospitals, and skill development through non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and autonomous organizations like Mathur Chaturvedi Parishad, Global Business Federation, Ram Charit Bhavan USA, and Mercantile Hindu Committee of Thatta Dubai.
Chaturvedi has a passion for Hindustani classical music, which is his favorite way to unwind after a long day of juggling with numbers. He was a ‘B’ high-graded artist on All India Radio (AIR) and Door Darshan, the national radio and television broadcasters of India. He also actively takes part in the cultural programs of the Indian consulate in Dubai; his team took part in singing, poetry recital, and enacting plays at World Hindi Day celebrations in 2023.
Chaturvedi and his wife Mala, a commerce graduate from Bombay University, have three children -- Madhup, Sanskruti, and Radhika. His son Madhup, pursuing LLB at Middlesex University Dubai, is a recipient of the UAE Golden Visa. Sanskruti, the twin sister of Madhup, is qualified in Vallabh Vedant (Philosophy) and is pursuing the Chartered Accountancy course from the UK. The youngest, Radhika, is a Grade 8 student at an Indian school in Dubai. She has a keen interest in Scout & Guides, wrestling, football, and Hindustani Classical Music (Vocal).
