Saravana Food Stuff Factory L.L.C was founded in 2005, nestled in the heart of the Umm Al Quwain industrial area in the United Arab Emirates. Its journey began with the packaging of Idli/Dosa Wet Mix in food-grade pouches, all under the trusted brand name "Saravana."
Mr. Thampi's educational background lies in commerce, but he initially ventured into the family business of crafting coir products. From 1987 to 2004, he dedicated himself to the manufacturing, promoting, and marketing of coir products in Alappuzha, Kerala, India. The coir business in the family spans an impressive 60 years, dating back to the era of India's independence. Mr. Thampi was also involved in financing business and also in the hospitality industry. Both businesses failed, and Mr. Thampi faced huge losses.
In 2004, Mr. Thampi embarked on a new culinary journey by establishing Saravana Food Stuff Factory L.L.C in Umm Al Quwain, UAE. Within a year, the venture became successful as he was a pioneer in this area in the UAE.
He made substantial investments in developing state-of-the-art food processing facilities, adhering to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards. The facility boasts advanced technology and equipment, ensuring the highest quality standards.
Saravana Food Stuff Factory L.L.C holds the distinction of being the first ISO 9001:2008 and HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) certified IDLI/DOSA Wet Mix Factory in the Middle East, certified by the United Registrar of Systems in the United Kingdom.

Mr. Thampi has diversified into other industries as well. A sister concern, Sunlight Electro Mechanical Erection & Installation Est and Quality Control Systems, is involved in the construction works of Adnoc, among others. Another company that Mr. Thampi owns is Al Fajer Drinking Water LLC, Umm Al Quwain, U.A.E.
Beyond his professional endeavours, Mr. Thampi is an active member of the Alleppey Pravasi Association in Dubai, the Indian Association U.A.E, and the County Club, Dubai. In his leisure time, he enjoys participating in various sports. Mr. Thampi's family legacy is deeply rooted in entrepreneurship, with his father, V.K. Sugathan, being the founder of the family business in their hometown. His mother, Retnamma, was a dedicated homemaker.
Mr. Thampi is happily married to Mrs. Lakshmi Viswakumar, a degree holder and homemaker. Their family includes two children, Tarun Thampi, a student at Sharjah American University, and Devika Thampi, pursuing her education at George Washington University in Washington, D.C., the United States.
